Asia Pacific Plastic Waste Project conference

In the frame work of the WCO’s Asia Pacific Plastic Waste(APPW) Project, a conference was held on 24-25 February 2022 via ZOOM to introduce the implementation process of four participating members during project and induce active cooperation through panel discussion between relevant international organization. Asia Pacific Plastic Waste Project was commenced to counteract against illegal Plastic waste trade mainly focusing on the Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

During the two days of high level discussions and presentation, the APPW Project highlighted how the implementation of the WCO and the Basel convention tools and intruments, especially in regard to plastic waste was strenghtend in the Asia Pacific region by cooperating with the Customs administrations and environmental authorities of four participating members.

On the first day of the conference, there was a explanation of Operation DEMETERand Project delivables. After that Participationg members give presentaion on the APPW Project process and outcome.

Panel discussion between Basel convention secretariat, World bank, ICC, Interpol, WTO, RILO AP, APEC SCCP, UNESCAP, ROCB AP, UNODC was made in the next day of the meeting

RILO AP is scheduled to implement the outcome of the first phase on APPW Project and participate the next project.
