The 29th Regional Contact Points Meeting of the WCO Asia-Pacific

RILO AP attended the 29th Regional Contact Points (RCP) Meeting of the WCO Asia-Pacific (A/P) region organized by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in Puducherry, India from 18th to 20th November 2019. In this annual meeting designed to address regional development and to discuss issues linked to the international trade procedures and cross border security, RILO AP participated as one of the representatives of the WCO’s regional bodies with the Asia Pacific Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB A/P). Delegation from the WCO regional members, WCO and its regional bodies shared experiences and discussed a variety of topics including Regional Strategic Plan, security and enforcement, technological innovations for cross-border procedures and inter-agency cooperation for trade facilitation. In particular, Australia reported the result of Global Canine Forum held in Australia in October, 2019 and Korea introduced the proposal to host WCO Regional Dog Training Center.




Mr. Min Gun LEE, head of RILO AP briefed its activities with focus on the joint operations implemented this year such as Operation Mekong Dragon Asia-Pacific, ICE BREAK, Green Earth, Demeter V and SHESHA III and introduced its future plan to facilitate law enforcement collaboration against cross-border crimes by designing and coordinating joint enforcement operations, which received support and keen interest from the audience. In addition, RILO AP contributed to the meeting with lively intervention and active discussion to enhance trade security and strengthen customs enforcement collaboration against illicit activities of transnational criminal organizations.
